Fear for the very fabric of the universe! The unthinkable has happened; SK8R/FREAK are no more!
The stress of repeatedly running from the police during the recent Break-in tour brought the rivalries of the past months to the fore. Since the theft of the studio tapes at the end of 2000, when the only copy of the second album was stolen, arguments over the organisation of things within SK8R/FREAK had broken out at least once a week. This created a schism with Dez and Skip wanting to play more live gigs while Sicko and Vanny wanted more studio time to reproduce album number 2 (Playing on the thin crust of reality).
The band played a lacklustre set at The Lion pub in Wombourne on March 9th. It was to be their last. A meeting was called to discuss the future of the band on Sunday March 11th. The inevitable argument finaly came to blows and the decision was made. SK8R/FREAK would split. Dez and Skip would form their own band 'After-image', a prospective side project of Dez's since January. Vanny would return full-time to his band 'Resolout', leaving an bruised Sicko with the SK8R/FREAK name and a large stack of lyrics and stickers. I have recieved a statement from Sicko which you will find on this page.
The band would like it to be known that this site will continue to be available as a testament to their work. Also, the Yahoo club - The sk8er/freak temple of death - will remain online so that fans can meet and chat about the former band. The ex-members have said they will drop in now and then.

There is a big pile of stickers left, so take the chance to get a piece of the greatest band ever to come out of Wombourne while you can.

You bastards! What do I do now? You took all the instruments with you, now it's just me in the middle of the stage with a mic and some hair. Fuck you all! Especially you Dez; I won't forget that right hook! You broke two of my teeth you git! Don't think you can just re-form SK8R/FREAK with another vocalist, I've got copyright on the name AND all the songs. What do you think of that, you scum suckers? SK8R/FREAK is MY baby! I don't need you anyway, my material is fantastic! Remember when the tech section blew up? There were people clamouring to join then! Yes, I'll be back and the NEW SK8R/FREAK will much better than the three of you ever were! We'll be selling records in four figures before you get your first track down! You're shit! Shit, I tell you! SHIT!
Want to know something Dez? I had your sister! Yeah Vanny, your's too! Skip; that time your brother Alex got busted with hash? It was mine! I sold it to the little dope fiend! And don't think Julie's going to return your calls either, she's locked up in my flat right now, chained to a wall! Yeah, she's mine! Mine, you useless pieces of shit! MINE! ALL MINE!!! To the fans:
Do not fear! SK8R/FREAK will return soon. Perhaps with a different name and definitly with a different line-up, but return we shall. The broken components have been removed so that working parts can be fitted; the musical machine shall continue!
